Our interest to studies of saccadic automaticity was dictated by two reasons: first -to get additional data confirming the automatic nature of saccades; second - to use saccadic automaticity in solving clinical problems in ophthalmology. Theoretically the finding of cause-effect relations between quick and slow phase of nystagmus was of great interest in particular, which phase is primary and which is secondary (Proskuryakova I.G., Shakhnovich A.P., 1068; Brooks D.S., 1968).
